Here are a few pictures of Carpinteria State Beach, which is a lovely if somewhat expensive place to camp right on the beach a few miles north of Santa Barbara. Yeah it costs $70 a night which is insane and for that price they should clean your bathroom and put a mint on your pillow. Ah California. I love you, but that sort of thing, not so much. And yet the place was packed, almost fully booked and that was at the end of December. This is where my beach odyssey, which as we know went on for the next TWO FULL MONTHS, really began. So there are sunsets! And shorebirds – seagulls, curlews and some smaller sandpipery guys I can’t quite identify! And the very first seal I saw! Whoo, beach!
Any of these would look amazing framed on your wall, by the way. Just, you know, saying.
